Last week I was looking at the possibilities to add some links in every Blog/News post to the most popular Social Bookmark-sites (like Google, Del.ico.us, Technorati, etc.). The amount of sites that are delivering services like Social Bookmarks is growing and it is hard to distinguish the trees from the forest...

One of these sites which seems to distinguish itself from the "mass" is Technorati. Whereas most bookmark-sites seem to deliver an online service for the same functionality as you will find in most internet browsers, Technorati seems to have specialized on keeping overview of your favorite Blogs.

Having a quick look on their website and the forum, I noticed that there were some people having problems claiming their Blog on Technorati. So I expected some trouble on the way too, trying to find some workarounds to get my WB Blog claimed on their site. Especially because WB is not really specialized as CMS for blogging pruposes. The opposite however was true. I had my Blog claimed in a matter of minutes. So I wanted to give you the QAD (Quick And Dirty) decsription of the steps you have to take to do it yourself:

• On your WB website, go to the page showing the overview of the articles in your Blog/News section (with the short descriptions) and copy the link.
• Surf to Technorati.com and make a new account if you don't have one already.
• After logging in to your account, click on "favorites" in the horizontal navigation bar next to your account-name.
• Then in the left column at the bottom, find the link "Claim your blog" and click it.
• Then in the form paste the address you just copied from your Blog and click "Begin Claim"
• After some seconds you will be presented with a screen showing only one method to calim your blog. Click on "Use Post Claim>>"
• In the next screen you will be presented with a link to add to your Blog, like:

• Leave this screen open in your browser during the next steps. Open a new tab or screen in your browser and copy this link and make a new post in your WB Blog/News section. Click on the "code" or "source" button of your WYSIWYG-editor and paste the link. Do this for the short description as well as the long description. Give the article any kind of title and make sure it is released. After the claim you can delete the article.
• Then go back to Technorati and click the button "Release the Spiders!"
• It will take some seconds before you are presented with a new screen to add some description and tags to your blog. Copy these from the page-settings of your WB Blog/News page. You will be able to edit them later on also.
• Also you will be able to add a button to your Blog for the readers to add it to their Technorati favorites. I you want to, choose the button you like and copy the code next to it. Paste this code at the bottom of the "Post header" section of the news settings in your WB admin portal.
• At technorati click the button "Save Blog Info" and you're done. You have succesfully claimed your Blog on Technorati.
